SMS Alpha Tag Requirements for SMS Marketing & Reminders

An SMS Alpha Tag is a unique sender ID (such as your clinic's name) that appears as the sender on your clients' phones. In Australia, registration of Alpha Tags is required to help reduce spam and prevent fraud. This registration process involves approval by our SMS provider to ensure compliance with security standards.

Approval Tip

Description

Match Business Name

Use an Alpha Tag similar to your business name (e.g., “HealthPoint” for "HealthPoint Physio").

Avoid Generic Terms/Personal Names

Names like “Clinic” or “Mark” are usually too broad and may be rejected.

Character Limit

Stick to 11 characters or fewer. Abbreviations are fine if still recognizable.

No Special Characters

Only use letters and numbers; special characters may cause issues with approval.

Approval Process for Sending Marketing Emails & SMS Messages

To prevent spam and ensure security, there are restrictions on sending marketing emails and SMS messages, particularly for trial accounts.

Trial Accounts

  • Trial Restrictions: By default, email and SMS marketing capabilities are not enabled in trial accounts for security reasons. However, if you would like to enable these features during your trial, simply reach out to us. We’ll verify your account and enable the features once the necessary checks are completed.

  • Subscription Accounts: If you're on a subscription plan, reach out to us to enable SMS and email marketing features. We’ll also provide a run-through of how everything works to ensure a smooth experience.
